Who are the Seabats?

The Seabat family is an eclectic crew of creative individuals. They enjoy their privacy and freedom, and therefore choose a life of fluid locality. Though their real home is the magnificently mobile Seabat Isle, they each travel the world and beyond in a variety of vessels. Seabat Isle is a quaint little plot held together by the massive roots of Unwin, the island's magnolia tree, floating hither and thither across the many seas.
I believe the Seabat's to be one of the most intriguing and infinitely curious group of people that I have yet to meet. That being said, I have taken it upon myself, Haley Who, to expose the rest of the world to their varied and strange investigations, experimentations, and creations. I will try to post as often as possible on the things that I may appropriate, confiscate, or duplicate from this family of Seabats.

Members of the Seabat Family

  • Chester and Alera Seabat
  • Acacia Nightkite Seabat
  • Lydia Seabat
  • Seth Seabat
  • halo Seabat
  • Neven Seabat
  • Evrin Seabat
  • Gran'pa Seabat
  • Neema "Gran'ma" Seabat

Gran'ma Seabat

Neama Seabat hold's the place of head of household along side her husband, Sebastian. She can be found most days in her parlour stitching away at some new squishy creation. She adores her granddaughter, Lydia and spends quite a bit of time designing and creating costumes and toys for her rambunctious poppet. Though she is fully physically capable for her old age, Neama insists on traveling most anywhere in her antique wheelchair, which she is convinced that her long lost lover, Ambrosio, haunts and feels lost without him by her side. Sebastian and Neama met at a train station in London after he sneakily locked their bikes together in order to meet his future wife.

Neven Seabat

Born as the second son of Neama and Sebastian Seabat he is now a cross dressing, pansexual, kink-friendly, androngynine whom dabbles in alchemy, majicks, biology and scuba diving. He can usually be found beneath the shores of Seabat Isle in his laboratory tucked inside his giant rose colored sub. His favorite color is ivy green and is obsessed with the idea of animating the exanimate.

Lydia Seabat

Second daughter of Everin and Jinx Seabat, between her older sister, halo, and younger half brother, Seth. Her favorite family member is Gran'ma Seabat and the can often be found in Neema's parlor designing costumes and chatting over cake. Lydia has a fascination with pirates, victoriana, punk, roller derby and giant dresses. She designs, with her Grandmother, huge elaborate costumes that can easily be converted for use with her stilts. One of her most popular costumes is the Tooth Faerie, concocted from and old fractured nursery rhyme halo used to tell her. Her other persona is Lady Seabat, a Ballerina Pirate Princess. She hates platform shoes, but loves Elvgren pinup girls. Her favorite animals are the island's fuchsia raccoons.

Seth Seabat

Youngest of the Seabat Family and Son of Everin and Acacia. Seth is a voracious reader and rarely, if ever leaves the library. He is an animal lover with specific interest in reptiles of all shapes and sizes. He can't ever seem to get rid of one of the Isle's tricksy fuchsia racoons as it seems to want to torment Seth's every living hour. Seth tends to devote his affections to his float of crocodiles that live in the tiny swampland on seabat isle. Seth's Uncle, Neven, drugs their food once a week with a potion containing essence of puppy, with the subsequent results being that the entire float adores Seth as would a litter of labs. Seth and his sister, halo, are best of friends even though halo can lose her temper with him sometimes. She often builds him contraptions and mechanical creatures for his delight. Someday they will visit the Ice hotel in Lapland and play harmonicas and musical saws together in the icy caverns.

Unwin the Magnolia Tree

Unwin is literally at the root of this bizarre family. The Family has been hitchhiking on Unwin's little plot of floating fortified pumice stone for about 23 years. The giant tree has a very intersting past. Somehow a seed found it's way from the Ozarks to the seas, finally resting to root among the pumice filled earth of a remote volcanic island. After many years of being utterly alone, the tree made an extraordinary decision. After longing to be floating amongst the waves along all of the wooden ships that passed by the shore, Unwin decided if dead trees can traverse the seas then so could he. He broke himself from the shore and began his journey. Once at sea, floating with the breeze and enjoying his freedom he met with a terrible storm. The tempest ripped poor Unwin to bits. Luckily Everin, whilst exploring the flotsom dredged up to the surface by the storm, found the sad little traveling tree and drug it back to Seabat Manor. Acacia, a zenobotanist and wife of Everin's youngest brother, was eager to bring the bedraggled creature back to health. Acacia spliced new organic and technological elements into the tree, in the end making the new healthy tree run on electricity as well as organic elements. The tree and it's subsequent floating plot of land is home to the Seabat family and their creations. Floating amongst the world as it pleases, never to be lonely again.

Acacia Nightkite Seabat

Zenobotonist, widowed wife of Cornelius Seabat, now married to Cornelius' older brother, Everin. Mother of Chester and Alera. She is facinated by her husband, Everin's, work in the Mythozoological studies. She often uses his visual studies, sketches and photos to create unique tableauxs. When she can pull herself away from her Zenobotanist studies and experiments she enjoys jasmine tea with milk and lavender honey and creating floraly inspired jewelry. Overcast days make her romantically inclined.

Chester and Alera Seabat

Born as identical, partially conjoined twins, Chester and Alera are inseparable. They were both born hermaphoradidic and by the age of 5 were given the choice of how they would each like to be identifed sexually: the sweeter, slyer of the two chose to become male and took the name Chester, the quiet but calculating one took the name Alera and chose to become fully female. They were treated as such before their respective operations and keep with these personas today. The twins both have an extreme passion for the kitchen and run the catering business Seabat Sweets and Treats. Chester's favorite dessert is pineapple-basil sorbetto served by the cutest boy around. Alera enjoys baking with coconut milk and hazelnut oil.

Everin Seabat

First son of Sebastian and Neama Seabat. Founder of the Seven Seas Mythozoological Society. Resides and works among his Sloop, the Argentavis. His work consists of compiling data involving reports of creatures thought only to exist in myth and legend. When Cornelius, his youngest brother, became missing after an enormous tsunami hit Thailand where he was researching, Everin was plunged into a terrible depression and never left his ship. Only Acacia could make him surface for tea once a day.

These tea times grew into meal times and soon daylong conversations and finally proposals. Everin and Acacia were married beneath the shade of Unwin in October and have enjoyed tea time everyday since. Everin is father to halo, Lydia and Seth Seabat and now Step Father to Chester and Alera Seabat.

halo Seabat

Ah halo, she and I met over the aethernet on a forum debating quantum particle reactions to observations done by concerned and unconcerned parties. I had suggested that as long as we could train the electronic eyes to look aloof when the particle was on its way, we could trick the particle into desiring to be noticed, therefore obtaining both trajectory and locality.

halo on the other hand, suggested some sort of temporal non-locality nonsense that I only sort of understood. I admit that I ae-stalked her for a bit to find out more. It seemed that she was not only active in the Quantum Mechanix for World Repair Faction, but also head of the Tank from Tank Girl Comix Fan Club. Well, I knew I was smitten and had to find out more. I finally found a photograph of this elusive lady and to my surprise we are long lost twins! No not really, that would be splendid, but it is quite frightening, our similarities in appearance. She loves her little brother, Seth, dearly and despises ideologies that hinder free will. She also loves rye toast with English butter.
